Art Program and Curriculum

The Academy's students have art class once or twice per cycle. There are also opportunities to expand a student's art education by joining any of the enrichment class offerings available in the student's grade level. Enrichment art courses are designed for the students who are interested in deepening their art education. In 4th, 5th and 6th grade, the art program is often aligned with particular parts of the Social Studies curriculum.

ART CURRICULUM for GRADES 4-8 PLACES EMPHASIS ON...

Students being able to follow more complex direction.  Art projects often take more than just one class to complete.

The progression of skills increases.  Students are encouraged to take more time planning projects through more precise measurement.

Students are encouraged to use many different materials.  Students build upon prior experience and sharpen their critical thinking skills.
