Dear St. Edmond’s Families,

Yesterday’s morning prayer began with “Dear God, help each of us appreciate everything we have. Grant us the serenity to take time each day to think of all the blessings we have been given.” This week we returned to a “normal” cafeteria configuration for the first time in two years, the boys at round tables together, eating and laughing and kibitzing. It is a blessing to be together and we have much to be thankful for. Much thanks for Mrs. Goorland, Nurse Turner, Mrs. Rottura, and all our volunteer moms who help out in the cafeteria. It’s good to be back.Chris Locke, the founder of the SL24 Unlocke the Light Foundation, and Scott Day, the Executive Director of Sean’s House, spoke about mental health and well-being to our 7th and 8th graders this morning in the Rollins Center. Chris suggested several things to the boys, including creating a balance in terms of social media use, asking for help if one is anxious and depressed, and being a friend who listens. He reiterated similar themes to us as parents: creating a safe space for kids to be vulnerable and encouraging us to listen.
